"Turn the Tide" is the only single of 1989 from UK pop band Johnny Hates Jazz. The song did not appear on any studio album, remaining a stand-alone single. The last single before Datchler left the band, "Don't Say It's Love", only peaked at #48 in the UK whilst this single further marked the band's commercial decline, peaking at #84 in the UK for a total of two weeks. At the end of 1988, lead vocalist and primary songwriter Clark Datchler had left the band in order to continue his solo career. The two remaining members Mike Nocito and Calvin Hayes decided to continue the band with record producer Phil Thornalley on lead vocal.〔Anderson, Michael R. A promotional video was created for the single. "Turn the Tide" was written by Phil Thornalley, American producer Scott Cutler and Chris Murrell.
